Master Ihor Rymaruk’s Amsterdam Okinawan Uechi-Ryu Karate School held promotional examinations for qualifying student. Students were tested on their knowledge and physical proficiency of Uechi-Ryu Karate.

Dr. Glenn Pizarro successfully completed his test for the rank of 1st Kyu brown belt, and is well on his way to achieving the coveted black belt.

Justin Rymaruk, successfully completed his test for the rank of Yon-Dan, or 4th degree black belt, and Dr. William Papura, successfully completed his test for the rank of Go-Dan, or 5th degree black belt. Both students’ performances were very respectable and highlighted their strong commitment and drive for self-perfection through the practice of Uechi-Ryu.

Assisting Master Rymaruk on the test board were Amber and Brian Misavage of Balston Spa.

A surprise 40th anniversary celebration was held recently at the Amsterdam Okinawan Uechi-Ryu Karate School for Master Instructor Ihor Rymaruk. Past and present students commemorated the occasion, and Justin Rymaruk, presented the anniversary plaque to his father on Master Instructor Ihor Rymaruk, 8th Degree Black Belt with 40th anniversary plaquebehalf of the student body.

Rymaruk opened his first school in Amsterdam, N.Y. in May 1974. He also had a school in Schenectady, and taught classes at Schenectady Community College, Union College, Siena College, and Fulton-Montgomery Community College. He has made presentations at area schools for “Wellness Days” and taught self-defense tactics to area police officers. Rymaruk has also taught many seminars, and refereed at Karate tournaments.

Rymauk has published a book, “Karate, A Master’s Secrets of Uechi-Ryu”, and Okinawan Uechi-Ryu Training Posters. He also produced two Uechi-Ryu Karate DVD’s, and has a patent on the “Iron Arm Conditioning Hammer”.

Ihor Rymaruk’s Okinawan Uechi-Ryu Karate School held special Black Belt Testing for the school’s senior practitioners. Testing for the rank oRymaruk welcomes Vallef 6th Degree Black Belt (first level Master) were: Wayne Marotta of Hagaman, N.Y, Paul Stringer of Scotia, N.Y., and Brian Misavage of Amsterdam, N.Y. Marotta has been a practicing student at Rymaruk’s school since 1975. Stringer started his karate training at Rymaruk’s satellite school in Schenectady, N.Y. in 1986. Misavage began his martial arts training in 1994.

Master Instructor Stephen Valle of Florida assisted Rymaruk in the examination process: reviewing the candidates comprehension and physical performance levels. The test candidates received high praises for their exemplary performance from the visiting examiner and Rymaruk, and were all awarded their 6th degree belts.
